Seediq Bale’s director in Vancouver for CA debut on April 28
The widely anticipated Taiwanese epic film "Warriors of the Rainbow: Seediq Bale" will be screened at Cineplex Odeon International Village Cinamas (88 West Pender, 3rd Fl., Vancouver) and SilverCity Riverport Cinemas (14211 Entertainment Way, Richmond) from April 27 to May 10. During the Saturday evening screening at 7:00pm in Vancouver, director Wei Te-sheng will also be there to answer questions from the audience about his movie.
This epic is based on the Wushe Incident -- a famous uprising in Taiwan led by aboriginal Seediq hero Mona Rudao against Japanese military forces during the period of colonization. A contender for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film at this year’s Academy Awards, the film debuted in Taiwan on September 11, 2011. Since then, the film has won in the category of Best Feature Film, Best Supporting Actor, Best Sound Effects and Best Original Music at the 2011 Golden Horse Awards, Taiwan’s equivalent to the Oscars.
