TECO to present “Megastructures: EcoARK” documentary screening and discussion
The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Canada (TECO) will screen “Megastructures: EcoARK” at the Auditorium, Ottawa Public Library - Main Branch at 12pm on November 29. A discussion will be held following the screening. Both screening and discussion are open to the public free of charge.
This nine-storey-high exhibition hall, covering an area of six basketball courts, is built largely out of more than 1.5 million recycled plastic bottles. The concept of “environmental sustainability” is applied to the design of the pavilion, from the choice of building materials to natural ventilation and lighting. EcoARK can be taken down and reassembled easily, and is acclaimed as the world’s greenest architecture.
Following the film will be a discussion with scholars and experts in related fields. Issues such as environmental and ecological protection, green buildings, and the production and broadcast of films on environmental protection will be discussed. Audience is encouraged to exchange their views with speakers.
“Megastructures:EcoARK” will be screened at the Auditorium, Ottawa Public Library - Main Branch (120 Metcalfe St., Ottawa). It is narrated in English with Chinese subtitles. Starbuck coffee and light refreshment will be served.
