Visa Application Information

Visitor Visa

Eligible Applicants:
        Foreign nationals, who hold ordinary passports or other legal travel documents, intend to stay in the Republic of China（Taiwan） for less than six (6) months for the purpose of transit, sightseeing, visiting relatives, paying a visit, attending a training course, receiving medical treatment, or engaging in business or other permissible activities.

Requirements:

1. A passport valid for at least six (6) months

2. One duly completed application form and two (2) recent color photos (size 2 inches)

    Additional information concerning individual applicant might be required, he (she) may be requested to provide one or several of the following     documents:

4. Certificate of Employment.

     a. Owner or person in charge of a company:

         Company registration or license, original and copy one each.

         (The original will be examined and returned.)

      b. Student: Certificate of enrollment.

5. Certificate of financial status.

     a. Bank deposits passbook with at least six months deposit and withdrawal records: original and copy one each. (the original will be examined and returned)

     b. Personal ownership of real estate or certificate of taxation can be supplementary if certificate of bank deposit is not sufficient or unavailable.

6. Technician dispatched by business establishments to receive short term training or skills to install machines or equipment: In addition to the LC, invitation letter, related business correspondences are required for examination.

7. Applicants with newly issued passport are requested to present the old, out of date passports for our reference if there is one.

 

Visa Validity:

o     For foreign nationals from the countries with which the ROC has entered into reciprocal visa agreements, the validity of their Visitor Visas shall be decided        in accordance with these agreements

o     For other foreign nationals, a Visitor Visa is generally valid from threee (3) months up to one (1) year

Duration of Stay:

o     Fourteen (14) days

o     Thirty (30) days

o     Sixty (60) days

Remarks:
Visitor Visa holders who are permitted to stay in the R.O.C. for sixty (60) or ninety (90) days and whose visa bears no such remark as “no extension will be granted” may apply at the nearest city/county police headquarters for a maximum of 120 or 90 days of extensions.

Resident Visa

Eligible applicants:
        Foreign nationals, who hold ordinary passports or other legal travel documents, intend to stay in the Republic of China for more than six (6) months for the purpose of joining family, pursuing studies, accepting employment, making investment, doing missionary work, or engaging in other permissible activities

Requirements:

1. Up to 5 : same as mentioned as for visitor visa.

6. Marriage Certificate and copy of the household registration in R.O.C. of the person the applicant intends to join, Certificate of enrollments, Certificate of employment or permit of working in R.O.C. issued by the Council of Labor Affairs, the Ministry of Economic Affairs or other authorized agencies.   

Visa Validity:
A Resident Visa is valid for three (3) months

Duration of Stay:
Resident Visa holders are required to apply for an Alien Resident Certificate at the city/county police headquarters within 15 days after their arrival. They may stay in the R.O.C. as long as the Alien Resident Certificate remains valid.

Remarks:
If foreign nationals who have entered the R.O.C. with Visitor Visas are subsequently legally employed in the ROC, they may change their Visitor Visas into Resident Visas, in this country directly. The above regulations do not apply to blue collar workers or those who enter the R.O.C. via the visa exemption program.

Fees and Hours

● As of December 1, 2001, upon instructions of the government of the Republic of China, this Office will renew the fees of various visas as follows:

GV	Group Visitor Visa (Single entry)	750 Baht Per person	It needs no fewer than eight persons and should  be applied for tourism reason, by tourist company or registered legal person

● Prompt Processing Fee (PPF): As of the date mentioned above, applicants who intend to receive visas earlier than normal processing time has to pay additional 50% of the applied visa fees as PPF. Foreign-Worker-Visa PPF should be paid when collecting the visas; individual-visa PPF should be paid when submitting the visa application documents.

 ● Way of payment: Applicants pay the full amount of visa fees when sending applications. If approved, applicants come to receive their visas during the appointed time. If refused, applicants will have their traveling documents returned but visa fees will not be refunded.

 

● Facsimile Fee: If there is a need to ask for Bureau of Consular Affairs’ approval for issuing the visa, applicants have to pay the Facsimile Fee of 100 Baht(per page).

   A. Individual Visa: 09:00-11:30 A.M. (To apply),

        12:30-15:00 P.M. (To collect)

   B. Foreign Worker Visa: 09:00-10:00 A.M. (To apply),

        10:30-11.30 A.M. (To collect)

 

● Working Days for Processing Visas:

    A. Individual Visa: 2 working days (submit the visa in the morning and

         get the visa on the next day afternoon)

    B. Foreign Worker Visa: 6 working days (including the (1^st) day of submitting application documents)

    C. Group Visa: 5 working days (including the (1^st) day of submitting application documents).

 

● This office shall revise the procedure of granting visas and make an announcement at any moment if necessary.

Note:

1. Visa Reciprocity Processing Fee: When a foreign government imposes visa processing fees on R.O.C. citizens for certain types of visas, the R.O.C. will impose a reciprocal fee to nationals of that country for similar type of visas.
