2012 Taiwan International Documentary Festival calls for entry
The 8th Taiwan International Documentary Festival Seeks Submissions
Established in 1998, the biennial Taiwan International Documentary Festival has aimed to build resources for Asian documentary films and to facilitate global interaction among filmmakers and their audiences. The festival takes place October 19-28, 2012, and submissions are due by June 15.
There is no entry fee, and documentaries completed after July 1, 2010 are eligible for entry. International works submitted to competition must be Taiwan premieres. This rule does not apply to Taiwanese productions.
Each nominated documentary will receive a certificate, and screening fees will be automatically waived. One director or producer of each nominated film will be invited to the festival, with a round-trip economy class ticket and accommodation provided.
For international feature-length documentaries over 60 minutes, the festival will award one Grand Prize of $10,000US, a certificate and a trophy. The Merit Prize of $6,000US, a certificate and a trophy will be granted to two films. Other prize categories are International Mid-Length and Short Documentary, Asian Vision Award, and Taiwan Award. A jury of Taiwanese professionals will select films for nominations, which will be announced in mid-August 2012 on the TIDF website.
