Jeremy Lin takes sixth spot at NBA's Most Improved Player Awards

New York Knicks star Jeremy Lin Friday camein sixth at the NBA's Most Improved Player Awards, which recognizebasketball players who have improved significantly from the previousseason.

Lin, the first American-born NBA player of Taiwanese descent, received 91 points, including 10 first-place votes, from a panel of 121 sportswriters and broadcasters.

"Sensation Jeremy Lin, who surely would have won the award had he not missed nearly half the season, came in sixth," said Evan Dunlap, the founder and chief editor of Orlando Pinstriped Post in a report.

Lin, who underwent surgery April 2 to repair a torn meniscus, has started to play in more practices as part of his recovery program, however, Knicks interim coach Mike Woodson said earlier that there is no timetable for Lin's return.

Ryan Anderson of the Orlando Magic won the NBA award, earning 260 points and 33 first-place votes. Milwaukee Bucks forward Ersan Ilyasova finished in second place, followed by Minnesota Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic.
