Evolution

Visioning the need to serve an expanding Chinese population moving into the bay area, the Culture Center of T.E.C.O. in San Francisco(Sunnyvale) was formed in Sunnyvale on March 26th, 1988 under the auspices of the Overseas Compatriot Affairs Commission(OCAC) of the Republic of China. By OCAC's foresightedness, it is also the first permanent institute which OCAC funded in North America.

Hundreds of people visited the center each day because of its functional interior design, multipurpose facilities and state of the art equipment. Since the center opened, it has hosted more than four hundred of activites each year and has more than 40,000 people attended those activities. The Center has become not only the major congregate setting in the Norhtern California Chinese Community, but also a valuable source of community and cultural information services and resources.

The Culture Center of T.E.C.O. in San Francisco(Sunnyvale) provides service including fifteen cities and counties, such as San Jose, Cupertino, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Santa Clara County and etc ... and it's estimates of 180,000 overseas Chinese population within its serving area. The entire staff are following the OCAC's system to operate the center, and provide a better service to Chinese community. Meanwhile, the center sustains different associations for all the functions to carry forward our culture and unites with the compatriots to support our government.

Location

The center is located in Sunnyvale where is the center of the Silicon Valley. From San Francisco, goes south along the HWY 101, turns on west of the HWY 237 and gets off the exit at Lawrence Expwy, the center is at 1269 Forgewood Ave., Sunnyvale, CA 94089, USA . It is about 50 minutes driving distance from San Francisco.
