This beverage and treat gala, the Taichung Int’l Tea, Coffee &Bakery Shows (TCFB Taichung), join the vast strengths of Taichung in a fragrance fest that’s served in a region packed with rich and diverse blends of coffees, teas and bakeries. Anyone who’s been to Taichung knows it’s a metropolis of cafes and bakeries. That’s why Taichung is the repeat venue for this event that builds upon last year’s outstanding show that joined 147 businesses to use 263 booths to interact with more than 35,396 visitors!
This July two worldwide professional competitions unfold, namely the “World Siphonist Championship-Taiwan Representative Selection” and “World Barista Championship Middle Taiwan Preliminary Selection” to present the ultimate in barista skills and café art.
Mention Taiwanese coffee and usually it brings to mind coffee produced in Gukeng Township (古坑), Yunlin County. Taiwan now has many of its own brand name coffees that have taken decades to develop that are eager to go global.
Middle Taiwan is the capital of tea Taichung was selected to host the Tea Show sinceit’s at the heart of tea production with neighboring Nantou having 39% of the tea plantations while Taipei in the north has about 17% of the plantations. In total Taiwan has 18,684 hectares of tea plantations that have a combined P/A tea production of about 19,836 metric tons valued at NTD$3.7 bn.
