Taiwan Fellowship Program was initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) in Tawan in early 2010. The purpose of this program is to encourage foreign experts and scholars who major or interested in the studies concerning Taiwan, cross-strait relations, mainland China, Asia Pacific and Sinology and who are able to conduct research in the universities or research institutions in Taiwan.
Main content of the program is as follows:
Fellowship recipients should be foreign professors, associate professors, assistant professors, or doctoral candidates of related departments at overseas universities, or research fellows of equivalent level in academic institutions abroad.
Social Sciences including Taiwan Studies, Cross-Strait Studies, China Studies, Asia Pacific Studies and Sinology.
Two categories of research stipends—NTD 60,000 (approximately USD 1,900.00) for professors, associate professors, research fellows and associate research fellows, and NTD 50,000 (approximately USD1,600.00) for assistant professors and doctoral candidates—are granted respectively each month. The research period is from three months to one year, including an economy class roundtrip ticket. Besides, accident insurance of NTD 1,000,000 (approximately USD 31,500.00) is provided during the term of research in Taiwan.
The application date is from October 1st to November 15th. Applicants should submit the following documents in English or Chinese to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Guam:
