Taiwan dealing with issue of brain drain: premier

"We have been aware of the situation (of brain drain in Taiwan),"Chen said, adding that the Cabinet has introduced measures to addressthe problem.
Chen's remarks came in response to reports that Singapore's DeputyPrime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam described Taiwan as a countrythat faces brain drain due to its failure in keeping domestic talent andattracting foreign talent.
Shanmugaratnam said Singapore should create incentives to retain talent and avoid the problem of brain drain that Taiwan is facing.
Asked by the local media whether Taiwan will loosen existingregulations to attract more foreign talent, Chen said the governmentwill mull taking such a step.
The government will also take Shanmugaratnam's statement asreference when forming policies to address this issue, Chen said.
