2009 Taiwan Government Information Office Chinese Learning Scholarship Program
Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Toronto is pleased to announce 2009 Taiwan Government Information Office Chinese Learning Scholarship Program.
Aiming to promote exchanges between Taiwan and Canada and increase opportunities for Canadian journalists to familiarize themselves with Taiwan and experience Taiwanese culture, the Taiwan Government Information Office Chinese Learning Scholarship Program provides scholarship for Canadian journalists traveling to Taiwan and learning Chinese at an eligible language institution in Taipei, Taiwan’s capital city.
Journalists who are working for local newspapers, TV or magazines, including interns, are eligible to apply. Applications from freelancers who have previous publications as well as university and college students with a major in Journalism or related areas are also welcome.
The scholarship awards NT$25,000 per month (approximately US$800) to each student for a 3 to 12 months period, according to the length of program the student is approved to enroll. The scholarship also includes round trip air tickets.
Journalists can tailor the length of enrollment in this program according to their own needs. Those who are interested in this program should complete the application form (as attached) and send it back along with a recommendation letter or previous work for consideration no later than December 8, 2008.
