<p>The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Boston held its Centennial Celebration of the Republic of China (Taiwan), hosted by Director-General Anne Hung, at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel, Boston, on the evening of October 5 beginning at 7:00 PM. More than 800 guests attended the reception including state and local government officials from across New England, members of the Consular Corps of Boston, overseas compatriots, scholars and students from Taiwan. <P>```The formal ceremony included the Honorable Ronald Mariano, Majority Leader of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, who addressed the gathering and presented Director-General Hung with a joint resolution on behalf of the Massachusetts General Court congratulating the ROC on the 100th anniversary of its national day, supporting Taiwan’s participation in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and other international organizations, as well as the United States Visa Waiver Program. In addition, governors of Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont gave citations congratulating the Centennial. Senates and Houses of Representatives from the various states and the Boston City Council offered resolutions congratulating the Centennial, expressing their friendship and support.<BR/></p>
