Six Marshallese high school graduates are awarded the Taiwan Scholarship sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and three young Marshalleses are awarded the Higher Education Scholarship Program sponsored by the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) in 2017.
The MOFA Taiwan Scholarship awarded students are Peralnalin Rilan Anien, Makali’I Kelly Kelen, Waju Jasmine Ading, Jerry Nathan Jr., Souvenir Stanley Heine
and Steve Kedi. They are scheduled to depart for a period of five years education in Taiwan by late August. They will study the Chinese language for their first year at the Mandarin Training Center of the National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei.
The TaiwanICDF Scholarship awarded young Marshalleses are Beroni Enne, Adri J Hicking and Higa Jj Erra. Beroni and Adri are accepted by I-Shou University in Kaohsiung to embrace their four years education in the School of Medicine. Higa is the first Marshallese student accepted and enrolled in the Bachelor Program in Medical Laboratory Science and Biotechnology of Kaohsiung Medical University. Three of them are scheduled to depart in early September
H.E. Ambassador Daniel D.W. Tang invited Marshall Islands High School Vice Principal Rubida Hermios and the aforesaid 9 talented scholarship recipients to the Embassy on July 25, to congratulate them on the praiseworthy result of their applications for the scholarship. Ambassador Tang encouraged them to make the best efforts in their study, to pick up the language, to travel around Taiwan and make local friends. Ambassador Tang also wishes to see more students from the Marshall Islands pursue higher education in Taiwan to promote culture, custom, understanding and friendship between the two people and countries.
