Taiwan and the Philippines are two geographically neighboring countries, separated by the Batanes and Luzon Strait. Taiwan and the Philippines share a lot of similarities in geography, history and culture and have the same values of freedom and democracy. Both of the countries have long been enjoying close and substantial relations.

The aggregated investment value from Taiwan exceeded US$2 billion as of March, 2012. Taiwan is the 8th largest foreign investment in the Philippines, just after Japan, South Korea, USA, Singapore, Netherlands, U.K., and Mainland China.
Visitors from Taiwan traveling to the Philippines exceeded 210 ,000 in 2012, sharing 5.31% of the total foreign visitors, and made Taiwan become the 5th largest tourist source country to the Philippines in 2012.
Taiwan was the Philippines' 7th top destination country for Overseas Finipino Workers (OFWs) in 2012. The Filipino workers in Taiwan were the third largest workforce in 2012. Currently, there are more than 93,000 Filipino workers and migrants in Taiwan. The annual remittance from Filipino workers in Taiwan can be amounted to US$600 million.
The air-links between Taipei/Kaohsiung and Manila are daily operated by China Airlines, Eva Air, Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific Air, while other city destinations (i.e. Cebu, Laoag, Kalibo) and connections are also available.
