Visa Application

1.      In general, you will need a visa if you wish to visit the Republic of China (Taiwan).

• Nationals of the following countries are eligible for the visa exemption program, which permits a duration of stay up to 90 days：Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland,Israel (starting from August. 11. 2011), Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, U.K. , U.S.A, and Vatican City State.
• Nationals of the following countries are eligible for the visa exemption program, which permits a duration of stay up to 30 days：Australia, Canada, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Singapore.
• Ports of entry to enjoy visa exemption: Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, Taipei Songshan Airport, Keelung Harbor, Taichung Airport, Taichung Harbor, Kaohsiung International Airport, Kaohsiung Harbor, Magong Airport, Taitung Airport, Hualien Airport, Hualien Harbor, Kinmen Airport, Shuitou Harbor and Fuao Harbor.

Although a visa is not required if you are a holder of a passport issued by a country in the list above, you still need to meet the following requirements:

l   posses an international passport with a minimum valid period of 6 months (3 months for Japanese passport)

l   possess a confirmed or open-dated return or onward travel ticket

l   no criminal record verified by the airport or seaport police of ROC (Taiwan)

2. India, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam passport holders who are permanent resident or hold valid visa of Canada, USA, Shengen States, UK, Japan, New Zealand or Australia can enter Taiwan for 30 days on visa exempt with the following requirements:

1) must apply for an “Authorization Certificate’ online at  http://www.immigration.gov.tw/mp.asp?mp=2


2) check-in with the approved download Certificate

3) passport valid for more than six months

4) onward and return ticket

5) no criminal record

As of Wednesday, 15 May 2013@1800hrs, application from Philippine nationals will not be accepted.

Please note the followings:

Please check the validity date of your passports, visas issued by the above countries and the authorization certificate from Taiwan’s National Immigration Agency before you embark on your trip to the Republic of China (Taiwan). You will be denied entry into Taiwan at the point of landing if any one of the aforesaid documents is no longer in force.

If you are unable to log onto our National Immigration Agency’s website to initiate or to complete an application for an Authorization Certificate, you are advised to make a physical application at our office. Please be informed that this Office has no control over the operation of the website and is unable to rectify any incorrect entries or applications.

3.      If your stay in ROC (Taiwan) will exceed 30 days (or 90 days for foreigners who hold passports issued by Ireland, Japan, New Zealand and U.K.), please submit your visa application with the necessary documents at the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore or contact us by telephone.

l   A copy of duly filled form

l   2 recent passport photos

l   relevant documents

 

4.      If you are holding a passport issued by a country that does not have visa exempt arrangement with ROC (Taiwan), you will need to apply for a visa with the following documents and fee:

l   A copy of duly filled form

l   2 recent passport photos

l   A photocopy of your passport (with a minimum valid period of 6 months)

l   An invitation letter

l   An employment letter

l   Business documents like Letter of Credit, airway bills etc

l   Other relevant documents

l   Visa fee of S$65

l   Fax fee of S$6 (where applicable)

Important Note: (applies to all visa applications)

l   Nationals of Ghana, Myanmar, Nigeria and Nepal applying for visa to enter ROC (Taiwan) at the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore must be holders of employment pass, work permit or long term social pass etc issued by Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) of Singapore.Passport must be valid for more than 1 year.

l   The applicant may be required to furnish additional documents and information whenever necessary.

l   If your application is incomplete when you submit it or if you submit false information or you do not meet our requirements, we may refuse or deny your application. Please note that entry to ROC (Taiwan) is a privilege and not a right.

l   Every application for visa will be considered on its own merits.

l   Possession of a visa does not entitle a foreigner to enter ROC (Taiwan) automatically. The admission of a foreign visitor to ROC (Taiwan) is determined by the National Immigration Agency at the ROC (Taiwan) checkpoints and each case is considered on its own merits
