Introduction of Taipei Representative Office in the UK, Edinburgh Office

Taipei Representative Office in the UK, Edinburgh Office is a Scotland-based office representing the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan). The tasks of the Office include enhancing Taiwan’s relations with Scotland, North England (Above Durham and Cumbria) and Isle of Man, supporting and protecting Taiwanese in above-mentioned areas, providing consular services, promoting Taiwan and Scotland bilateral exchanges and facilitating muturally-beneficial projects in trade, investment, culture, education, media, science, and technology.

This office was established in April 1998. The first Director General was Mr Erh-Huang Tsai. Mr Tsai was later appointed to be the Ambassador in Belize in February 2000. In the same year, Mr Abraham Wen-Shang Chu arrived and took up the post as the second Director General. Mr Chu was designated to be the Director General of the Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Miami in January 2004 and Ms Rose Jane Cheng was the successor.

Ms Cheng completed her services in Edinburgh in March 2009 and was called back to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mr Steven Reyyuan Chu assumed the post as Director General in May 2009. Mr Chu was later promoted to be the deputy representative of the Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Malaysia in January 2013. Mr Marc Jenchung Su succeeded Mr Chu as the fifth Director General of the Office.
