Education and Culture Division

The Education Division strives to promote exchange and cooperation in an educational context between Taiwan and the U.K. / Republic of Ireland. Services provided include the following:

1. Promoting exchange between the R.O.C. and the U.K. / Republic of Ireland in academia and sport; supporting related exchange activities involving Taiwanese, British and Irish participants.
2. Facilitating exchange visits between scholars or professionals in the education sector.
3. Supplying information and guidance to enable students from the U.K. and the Republic of Ireland to obtain scholarships for study of language or degree programmes in the R.O.C.
4. Administrating the Taiwan Scholarship and the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship for U.K. applicants at the application, selection and preparation stages.
5. Promoting and supporting Mandarin teaching within the U.K. and the Republic of Ireland.
6. Granting assistance to academics and students from the R.O.C. undertaking research or study in the U.K. / Republic of Ireland.
7. Helping to verify degrees obtained in the U.K. or the Republic of Ireland in according to‘MOE Regulations Regarding the Assessment and Recognition of Foreign Academic Credentials for Institutions of Higher Education.’
8. Compiling and editing information upon policy, statistics and practice relating to education and sport in the U.K. / Republic of Ireland.

The Key working aims of the Cultural Division are:
1. To establish an actual base in the form of a “Taiwan Academy”
2. To organise artistic and cultural events, and integrate with the main cultural organisations in the UK
3. To continue to cultivate and collaborate on artistic and cultural affairs
4. To promote the “Taiwan Spotlight Project”, to strengthen and increase its effectiveness
5. To gather and evaluate information on British attitudes towards matters relating to cultural policies
6. To establish and maintain a contact list of important arts and culture correspondents
7. To coordinate materials on arts groups that the Ministry of Culture has sponsored throughout the whole world, to extend the benefits and efficiency thereof
