REQUIREMENTS FOR A VISA TO ENTER TAIWAN, ROC

A. IMPORTANT NOTICE

1. The Government of the ROC(Taiwan) reserves the right to change any of the visa requirements without notice.
2. If the flight ticket has been paid for before applying for the visa, the Taipei Liaison Office in the RSA does not take responsibility for any losses should the visa not be approved.
3. Besides the Visa Application Form for Entry into ROC(Taiwan), the Taipei Liaison Office in the RSA reserves the right to request further information, including supporting documents and/or an interview with the applicant, should it be deemed necessary.
4. The following are all at the discretion of the issuing office:
   a. The duration of stay in Taiwan (14, 30 or 60 days);
   b. validity of the visa;
   c. single or multiple entry of the visa.
    
5. Please take note that the Government of the ROC(Taiwan) reserves the right to withhold the disclosure for the reasons of disapproval of a visa application and to withhold any fees deemed non-refundable.

B. ALL APPLICANTS MUST PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING

1. One completed application form.
2. One recent passport-sized colour photo (taken within the last 6 months).
3. A valid passport (minimum 6 months validity).
4. A copy of the flight ticket or a confirmed reservation from the flight agent.

C. THE APPLICANT MUST ALSO PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING ORGININAL DOCUMETS

For a business trip

a) A letter from the Company in South Africa stating that they are sending him/her on business and that the Company will be paying for all his/her expenses. This letter must be endorsed by a bank.

b) Plus one of the following:

a. A letter of invitation from a company in Taiwan (this must include the period during which the applicant will conduct business in Taiwan).
b. Proof that the purpose of the visit to Taiwan is to attend a trade show.
c. Any other proof that the purpose of the visit is to conduct business in Taiwan.

For visiting family or friends

a) A letter of invitation confirming the duration of stay and details of the host (include the name, home and work address, telephone number). Attach a clear and legible copy of the front and back of the host's ID card (if ROC national) or ARC (if host is a non-ROC national). Should the host be an ROC national, the letter of invitation must be written in Chinese. If not, the letter should be written in English.

b) Proof of available funds for the visit to Taiwan (bank statements for the last 3 months or a receipt for foreign exchange purchased).
If the proposed duration of stay is
14 days: at least R10 000
30 days: at least R20 000
60 days: at least R40 000

For Tourism

a) Proof of a reservation for the whole trip at any Taiwan hotel. This should include the following in both English and Chinese: the name, physical address, telephone and fax number as well as the daily room rate.

b) Proof of available funds for the visit to Taiwan (bank statements for the last 3 months or a receipt for foreign exchange purchased).

If the proposed duration of stay is

14 days: at least R10 000
30 days: at least R20 000
60 days: at least R40 000

For Employment

a) A work permission document from the Bureau of Employment and Vocational Training, Council of Labor Affairs.

b) Proof of a reservation for the whole trip at any Taiwan hotel. This should include the following in both English and Chinese: the name, physical address, telephone and fax number as well as the daily room rate.

c) Proof of available funds for the visit to Taiwan (bank statements for the last 3 months or a receipt for foreign exchange purchased).
If the proposed duration of stay is
14 days: at least R10 000
30 days: at least R20 000
60 days: at least R40 000

D. PROCESSING TIME: 4 working days.

VISA ISSUANCE FEE:
South African passport holders: Gratis
Other passports: R270 (Single Entry)
R540 (Multiple Entry)

EMERGENCY ISSUE:
24 hours. An extra amount of R135 will be charged for a single entry visa.
