On June 24th, 2019, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Austria held a scholarship ceremony to award this year's scholarship recipients with their certificates. The scholarship winners attended the ceremony with family and friends.
After showing a shor
t multimedia presentation on Taiwan, Head of Mission Vanessa Yea-Ping Shih talked with students about their hopes and dreams for their time in Taiwan. She encouraged students to study diligently and enjoy their time in Taiwan. She also stressed the importance of bilateral academic collaboration between the countries and wished all of the recipients a successful time in Taiwan. As well, she invited family members and friends to visit Taiwan while their loved ones are there to personally witness the beauty and safety of Taiwan and to enjoy the delicious food culture.
This year, fifteen citizens from Austria, Slovenia and Croatia have been given the opportunity to study in Taiwan. Among those fifteen, twelve students from Austria, Slovenia and Croatia have been awarded a Huayu Enrichment
Scholarship from the Ministry of Education to learn Mandarin Chinese in Taiwan with award periods from two months to one year. Three Austrian and Croatian citizens have been awarded a Ministry of Education Taiwan Scholarship to pursue a degree in Taiwan, one of them will undertake their studies in Chinese.
