Target group
Students from Slovenia or Croatia who are "non-native Mandarin speakers are offered funding to complete a Mandarin Chinese language course at the National Sun Yat-sen University Chinese Language Center in Kaohsiung.
Duration, tuition and costs

- The course takes place in two groups. 30.06.-25.07.2025 or 28.07.-22.08.2025(both months can be chosen)
- Language lessons take place Monday to Friday mornings (9:00-12:00).
- Courses for beginners to advanced students (4 language levels are offered)
- Cultural program and excursions
The costs for the language course, flight, accommodation, insurance etc. must be covered by the students themselves:
- Tuition fee: 500 NTD (approx. 893€) (rate as of 18.12.2024: 1€= 34,12 NTD)
- Accommodation: private or in partner hotel Kaohsiung Hero Hotel:
Twin or double room: 11,000 NTD per month (approx. 320€) Fees are subject to change.
Booking is managed through Ms. Chen.
- Living costs are individual, but are estimated to average around 300-400€ for one month.
Financial support from the MOE
The Ministry of Education (MOE) Taiwan offers financial support in the amount of 6000 NTD (~176€) per participant per week (for a maximum of 4 weeks per year approx. 703€). NSYSU will apply for the subsidy at the MOE after the application period ends. It may take a few weeks for the MOE to approve the funding. Afterwards the NSYSU will pay out the subsidy to the students. If the participant is absent from the course, the funding must be reimbursed by the participant.
