The Education Division of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Australia will organize the TOCFL for non-native speakers of Chinese. The TOCFL is administrated by the Steering Committee for the Test of Proficiency -Huayu (SC-TOP) in Taiwan on three proficiency band and six levels, with these being: Band A(Level 1 & Level 2)、Band B(Level 3 & Level 4) and Band C(Level 5 & Level 6). Registration Fee is as follows: AUD45 for TOCFL. Meanwhile, the Children’s Chinese Competency Certification (CCCC) is designed for the non-native Chinese speaking children and registration fee is AUD20.
◆For the TOCFL and CCCC, each level has two sections, including listening and reading. Mock tests are available on the website: https://tocfl.edu.tw/index.php/exam/test
◆TOCFL test takers who pass the requirement will receive a certificate. The certificate can serve as a Chinese proficiency credential for:
- Applying for the “MOE Mandarin Scholarship” as a reference.
- Applying for the “MOE Taiwan Scholarship” to study non-English degree courses in Taiwan.
- Applying for the academic programs at colleges or universities in Taiwan.
- Serving as a reference of Chinese subject for University Entrance Committee for Overseas Chinese Students in Taiwan.
- Serving as a job-required proof of Chinese language proficiency.
- Recognition of Chinese language proficiency while there is a need arise to recruit new staff required to possess Chinese language skill by Australia Queensland Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce.
◆CCCC in Sprouting level: who have taken 150 hours of Chinese courses or acquired a vocabulary base of 400 words.
◆CCCC in Seedling level: who have taken 300 hours of Chinese courses or acquired a vocabulary base of 700 words.
◆CCCC in Blossoming level: who have taken 450 hours of Chinese courses or acquired a vocabulary base of 1,100 words.
◆TOCFL for Level 1: who have taken 240-480 hours of Chinese courses or acquired a vocabulary base of 500 words.
◆TOCFL for Level 2: who have taken 480-720 hours of Chinese courses or acquired a vocabulary base of 1000 words.
◆TOCFL for Level 3: who have taken 720-960 hours of Chinese courses or acquired a vocabulary base of 2,500 words.
◆TOCFL for Level 4: who have taken 960-1,920 hours of Chinese courses or acquired a vocabulary base of 5,000 words.
◆TOCFL for Level 5: who have taken 1,920-3840 hours of Chinese courses or acquired a vocabulary base of 8,000 words.
◆TOCFL for Level 6: who have taken 3840 hours of Chinese courses or acquired a vocabulary base of 8,000 words.
◆The TOCFL will take place at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 17, 2023
