The Southern Queensland Winter Baseball League (SQWBL) officially kicked off on 23 May!
Nearly 50 Taiwanese-Australian youth players are taking part in this season’s competition, representing teams including the Blue, Jays, Tigers, Marlins, Runcorn Drunkers, and Jigsaws — showcasing Taiwan’s passion and spirit for baseball.
The opening series featured an exciting matchup between two Taiwanese community teams, Runcorn Drunkers and Marlins. Director-General Fan of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brisbane and Director Hsu of the Taiwan Center Queensland were also there to cheer on the players and support the event.
Adding to the excitement, the Southern Stars Baseball Club and SQWBL will jointly form a team to represent Australia at the “2026 Taiwan International Baseball Tournament” in Taoyuan this July — marking another milestone in Taiwan-Australia baseball exchange.
Through baseball, friendships are built and Taiwan continues to shine on the international stage.
