To authenticate Birth Certificate issued by the Queensland or Northern Territory Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, please refer to the following requirements and submit your application in person or by post.
Requirements:
- Applicant (and representative, if any) must complete and sign the Application Form for Authentication (original).
- Original Birth Certificate (Standard Version) issued by the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages in Queensland or Northern Territory.
- Valid passports of both parents (and your representative's, if any). R.O.C. citizens must provide R.O.C. passports or National IDs. For postal applications, please enclose a photocopy of your passports only.
- Collection:
- Applications within Australia: Pick up in person or provide a prepaid self-addressed Registered Post or Express Post return envelope for the return of the authenticated documents.
- Applications outside of Australia: Applicants outside of Australia are required to pay postage to have their documents returned by International Recorded Delivery and also fill out an overseas post checklist form. Please refer to Australia Postage List for details.
- Authentication Fee:
- AU$22 per document for 5 business days standard application; or
- AU$33 per document for 1 business day urgent application.
Payment Method:
- Lodge in person: cash only.
- Postal applications within Australia: Money Order or Bank Cheque payable to the "Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Brisbane". (Personal cheques will not be accepted.)
- Postal applications from outside of Australia: Bank Draft in Australian Dollars payable to "Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Brisbane". (Personal cheques will not be accepted.)
Please note:
An authenticated Chinese translation of the QLD/NT Birth Certificate is usually required alongside the original Birth Certificate. Please check with the local authorities that you will be using this certificate (e.g. Immigration Office or Household Registration Office in Taiwan) for confirmation. If a Chinese translation is required, the translation has to be in Traditional Chinese and can be done either in Taiwan or in Australia. The authentication fee for Chinese Translated document is AU$22 per document.
