Taiwan is an island nation that has proud multi-cultural heritage and First Nation roots. According to historians, the Austronesian people first settled in Taiwan more than eight thousand years ago. Today, there are 16 First Nations living across the island, each has distinct culture and language. Our indigenous people are best known for their talent in arts, music, and sports. We are excited that eight Taiwanese indigenous artists participate in the 10th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art. Please visit the Queensland Gallery of Modern Arts and experience the vibe and power of Taiwan’s indigenous community.
