Director General David Cheng-Wei Wu was thrilled to meet Prof. Michael Green, CEO of the United States Studies Centre (USSC), and the USSC team Tom Corben, Jared Mondschein and Victoria Cooper. They had insightful discussions on regional geopolitical issues and shared views on Australian and cross-strait matters.
In March 2022, Prof. Green joined the bipartisan delegation of former US security officials led by Adm Mike Mullen, assigned by US President Joe Biden, to visit Taiwan. As the Russian invasion of Ukraine reflected the global expansion of authoritarianism, we thank the Biden administration for the timely show of rock-solid support for Taiwan. We look forward to working closely with USSC and further enhancing the partnership between TW-US-AUS.
According to USSC’s 2022 poll result, it shows that nearly half of Australians are willing to send military forces to help the United States defend Taiwan. This reflects the solid US-AUS alliance and highlights Australia’s perception of the critical role of Taiwan.
