The European Parliament’s Special Committee on Foreign Interference in all Democratic Processes in the European Union, including Disinformation (INGE) starts its 3-day visit in Taiwan from 3-5 November. The delegation, led by INGE Chair Raphaël Glucksmann (S&D, FR), includes MEPs Andrius Kubilius (EPP, LT), Markéta Gregorová (Greens/EFA, CZ), Andreas Schieder (S&D, AT), Petras Auštrevičius (Renew Europe, LT), Georgios Kyrtsos (EPP, GR) and Marco Dreosto (ID, IT).
The delegation is set to meet with President Tsai Ing-wen, Premier of the Executive Yuan Su Tseng-chang, President of the Legislative Yuan You Si-kun, Minister without Portfolio and spokesman of the Executive Yuan Lo Ping-cheng, Digital Minister Audrey Tang, Minister of the Mainland Affairs Council Chiu Tai-san. They will also take part in a series of roundtables with Taiwanese and European think tanks, NGOs and media, to discuss Taiwan’s experiences in fighting against disinformation, as well as methods to reinforce its cyber-resilience.
As the first ever official Parliament delegation to visit Taiwan, this marks a significant milestone in the relations between Taiwan and the European Parliament. We wish to extend our warmest welcome, and look forward to further deepening our exchanges with the Parliament and promoting the partnership with the EU.
