At the invitation of Vice President Tsai Chi-chan of the Legislative Yuan, Hon. Nicola Beer, Vice President responsible for Asia Affairs of the European Parliament will visit Taiwan from 19-21 July, to discuss Taiwan’s developments in freedom and democracy, as well as the potential for establishing Taiwan-EU high-tech supply chains cooperation.
Vice President Beer has been a long-time supporter for Taiwan’s freedom and democracy. On 3rd December 2020, she co-hosted a joint online press conference with Amb. Tsai Ming-yen, in which she voiced concerns over the security situation in the Taiwan Strait, and urged EU and its Member States to deepen relations with Taiwan. Responding in a video message, Vice President Tsai of the Legislative Yuan thanked Vice President Beer for her support, and extended an official invitation to Vice President Beer to visit Taiwan.
The visit of Vice President Beer marks a significant milestone in the relations between Taiwan and the European Parliament. We wish to extend our warmest welcome, and look forward to deepening our exchanges with the Parliament and promoting partnership with the EU.
