On June 25, the Ecole Sun Yat-Sen de Belgique (Taiwan’s Overseas Compatriot School) successfully held its annual academic results presentation and graduation ceremony. The school, which has a long and storied history, was established in 1965 by passionate overseas compatriots in Belgium, and is one of the most important educational institutions in Europe for learning Traditional Chinese.
Ambassador Remus Li-Kuo CHEN gave a speech during the ceremony, expressing thanks for the teachers’ hard work and encouraging the students to persist in enhancing their Chinese language skills. “You will realize that language is a bridge that can lead you to the heart of a culture, because only by understanding the language and script of our own country can we truly experience its unique cultural heritage and charm,” added the Ambassador.
At the end of the event, students presented what they learned by performing short skits, reciting poetry, dancing, and performing a musical piece as the closing act. Parents also prepared traditional Taiwanese dishes for the audience and participants. More than one hundred people gathered at the event to enjoy the warm and lively atmosphere.
