The Hans van Baalen Scholarship is now open for applications.

In honour of the late ALDE Party President Hans van Baalen, a staunch supporter of Taiwanese freedom and democracy, the Taipei Representative Office in the EU and Belgium together with the ALDE Party, the European Liberal Forum, the Centre for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy (CSDS) of the Brussels School of Governance (BSoG) at VUB, Taiwan Foundation for Democracy, and LYMEC-European Liberal Youth have set up a new scholarship aiming to strengthen EU-Taiwan relations and address the current geopolitical challenges in the Indo-Pacific. Applications are open immediately and will remain so until 15 August 2023.
This scholarship is for 12 months and the researcher will be based at the ALDE Party and the European Liberal Forum (ELF). The applicant must hold a master’s degree in international relations, social sciences, political sciences, or law and with a particular focus on EU-Taiwan’s relations within the sphere of security, defence cooperation, commercial and trade relations, or another similar area.
