On September 28, Deputy Representative Roland Yang attended the 113th National Day event celebrated by Le Cercle de Tai Chi Leung in the city of Hannut.
On behalf of Ambassador Roy Lee, Deputy Yang thanked Chairman Shun Lock Mou Leung and members of Le Cercle de Tai Chi Leung for their long-term and firm support of Taiwan by holding activities to celebrate the National Day of the Republic of China (Taiwan) every year, and displaying a sea of flags flying at the venue is a nice patriotic touch. Deputy Yang was also grateful that Chairman Leung overcame many difficulties for leading his members to visit Taiwan again in August this year. MOFA was also honored to receive him during their visit. Since 2005, President Leung has led his members to visit Taiwan for nine times. He sincerely supports Taiwan with practical actions.
Deputy Yang explained that our office has strived for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with Belgium, Luxembourg, the European Parliament and the European Union, and has achieved several results. Among them, in Belgium, the Belgian Federal Government has publicly supported Taiwan as an observer in WHA for four consecutive years from 2021 to 2024. And the Belgian Federal Chamber of Representatives, the Senate, the Flemish Regional Parliament, the Walloon Regional Parliament, and the Brussels Regional Parliament respectively passed the resolutions for supporting Taiwan during the last session (2019-2024). Our office will continue to strengthen cooperation with everyone on the existing basis. Last, Deputy Yang also promoted the Taiwan-Belgium Youth Working Holiday Program and the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship and Taiwanese Scholarships provided by the Taiwanese government. He called on the members to encourage their families and children to visit Taiwan for broadening their horizons, learning traditional Chinese or further their studies. Our office is very eager to provide the relevant information.
