The Taipei Representative Office took up an invitation from MEP Jose Inacio FARIA to team up with North Norway European Office in organising "Sea+You=Tomorrow" - a special exhibition all about the circular economy and sustainable development, which took place on April 2nd in the European Parliament members' restaurant . The European Parliament recently passed a motion that from 2021, all EU member states will ban single-use plastics with the aim of reducing the amount of plastic products polluting our oceans. Sustainable development is very important to Taiwan too. For example, did you know that Taiwan has one of the best recycling rates in the world?
Sea+You=Tomorrow was a chance to demonstrate Taiwan's success in the circular economy and sustainable development. More than that, though, we were able to showcase a whole range of sustainable products designed and made in Taiwan, including shades, ties, headwear, stationery, flasks and chopsticks, all produced from recycled plastics and natural materials. Plus, there were plenty of Taiwanese delicacies to try: from delicious seafood snacks to Taiwan's celebrated Kaoliang liquor and Kavalan whisky!
