Ambassador Tsai attended the funeral of Hans van Baalen, President of the ALDE Party

Ambassador Ming-Yen Tsai attended the funeral of Hans van Baalen, President of the ALDE Party, in The Hague, the Netherlands, today.

During the ceremony, video messages from President Tsai Ing-wen, President Charles Michel of the European Council and other European leaders were shown. President Tsai expressed the government's condolences and thoughts on President van Baalen's selfless support for Taiwan, as well as his staunch defence of democracy and freedom in the world.

European dignitaries, including Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and ALDE Vice-President Alexander Graf Lambsdorff, were in attendance to pay their respects.
