Brunei citizens who wish to travel, conduct business, visit relatives or are invited to attend international conferences, sports events, trade fairs in Taiwan are eligible for an eVisa from January 12, 2016. It is a new program convenient for the applicants who can apply an eVisa online at home, without leaving for this Office to submit application forms in person or entrusting travel agencies to do so.
Currently, Brunei citizens are eligible for a landing visa when traveling to Taiwan. In view of Brunei’s high-quality tourists, the Government of the Republic of China(Taiwan)has launched the eVisa Program starting from January 12, 2016, aiming at the 3 countries whose citizens are eligible for a landing visa, i.e., Brunei Darussalam, Macedonia and Turkey, and some others in total 27 countries list as attached. There are 46 countries on Taiwan’s visa waiver program, who are not included in this eVisa Program.
When Brunei citizens apply for an eVisa, they are advised to possess an ordinary, official or diplomatic passport with remaining validity period more than 6 months upon arrival in Taiwan. Emergency, temporary and other informal passports or travel documents can not be used to apply for an eVisa.
This Office recommends that applicants apply for an eVisa at least 7 days before departing for Taiwan. The procedure is as follows:
(1) Fill out an eVisa application form online(website: https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw/;illustrated as attached);
(2) Pay the visa fee online by credit card(MasterCard or Visa)in total NT$1,632, which includes the visa fee NT$1,600(equivalent to about B$69), and the processing fee for online credit card payment NT$32(equivalent to about B$1.4).
(3) Submit the application form.
After this Office has received the application form and approved it, a notice will be automatically sent to the applicant’s email box. Applicants are advised to click a webpage link in the email to download and print out the eVisa, then bring the printout with themselves when traveling to Taiwan.
The validity period of an eVisa is 3 months starting from the issue date. It is single-entry and the maximum duration of stay is 30 days, which can not be extended.
Brunei citizens who intend to travel to Taiwan for other than the above-mentioned purposes-such as employment, study, residence with family or attend courses, or wish to stay in Taiwan longer than 30 days, are advised to apply for an appropriate visa at this Office.(E)
