The Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong was the chosen venue yesterday for the "2013 Taiwan Trade Mission to Brunei", a one-day trade fair organised by the Bureau of Foreign Trade under the Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs (MoEA), and implemented by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council.
Hundreds of local businessmen turned up at the fair for the opportunity to invest, or discuss trade and business cooperation with their Taiwanese counterparts.
A total of 31 booths had been set up by participating suppliers, offering a variety of products, from healthcare to skincare, agricultural to electrical, and many more. Samples of food, goods and products were displayed at each booth, and visitors took the opportunity to interact with the exhibitors to learn more.
The director of the Taiwan Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Jessie Tseng, assured in her welcome remarks that all foods promoted at the fair are halal-certified, as well as healthy.
Also speaking at the event were Albert Huang, the representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brunei Darussalam; Hj Md Razali Hj Johari, the president of the Brunei Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Lien Kon Sien, the chairman of the Taiwan Business Association in Brunei Darussalam; and CityNeon Managing Director Dato Jack Ting.
The speakers acknowledged in their respective speeches that the fair serves as a vital platform in promoting the importance of bilateral relations socially, culturally, and through trade.
The Taiwanese delegation will visit Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Singapore next with the same mission.
