Drug stores now required to have MoH certification

Pharmacies, pharmaceutical importers and wholesalers are now required to have certification from the Ministry of Health, as of November 1, in order to operate legally in Belize.
The Ministry notes that while there are about 50 wholesalers and 120 retail pharmacies countrywide, only 23 pharmaceutical importers/wholesalers and 37 retail pharmacies possess valid Ministry of Health facility licenses, and have met the necessary requirements and standards outlined by the Ministry of Health, in light of Food and Drug Regulations’ Statutory Instrument to protect and safeguard people’s health.
The Ministry encourages all pharmaceutical facilities that have not applied for their Certificate of Registration License to become compliant with the rule. It also informs the public that the moratorium on new pharmaceutical companies and products will be lifted on November 1, and that the list of pharmaceutical facilities that hold a license will be published on the Ministry of Health website: www.health.gov.bz on the same date.
