Congrats to the 27 participants who completed the agro-processing training!
Ambassador Lily Li-Wen Hsu was delighted to attend the Closing Ceremony of “Empowering Women and Youths to generate income through Agro-processing and value addition of locally grown seasonal fruits and vegetables Project”, jointly with Ambassador Amalia Mai, CEO of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration, Dr. Vitoriano Pascual, Chief Agriculture Officer of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise (MAFSE), and Mr. Sunny Shaw, Senior Advisor of the Taiwan Technical Mission in Belize.
The training project was funded by TaiwanICDF under the Belize-Taiwan cooperative framework titled "Enhancing the Economic Empowerment of Women in Belize in the COVID-19 Post Pandemic Era: Technical Assistance for Women's Employment, Entrepreneurship and Financial Inclusion," with an aim to train and empower women and youth to build up agro-processing skills and knowledge to add value to seasonal fruits and vegetables. The project trained participants on how to utilize perishable crops to reduce significant food losses and safeguard food security, as well as to become certified Food Handlers with the Public Health Department of the Ministry of Health of Belize.
The Embassy is proud and honored to partner with the Government of Belize on issues that are critical to the national development of Belize.
