On December 4, Ambassador Lily Li-Wen Hsu, Speaker Valerie Woods of the House of Representatives, and Vice President Collet Montejo of the Senate signed a record of donation for the Renovation of Belize National Assembly Project, witnessed by Prime Minister John Briceño, along with many members of the parliament and representatives from several Ministries who attended the ceremony.
When President Tsai In-Wen visited Belize and made a speech at the National Assembly in April this year, she was very touched by the staunch support and warm friendship shown by members of the Belize parliament. After learning of the need for renovation of the National Assembly building that was built more than 50 years ago, President Tsai and her government decided to provide a grant for the renovation project to support the Belize parliamentary institution.
As a genuine friend and fellow democracy, Taiwan is honored to contribute to this monumental project of Belize that symbolizes the strong partnership between our two democracies!
