On May 13th, Ambassador Lily Li-Wen Hsu was glad to join Hon. Orlando Habet, Minister of Sustainable Development and Climate Change, in attending the closing ceremony for the Belize Interdepartmental Rapid Response Training under the “Flood Warning Capacity Improvement for the Belize River Basin Project” co-implemented by the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Climate Change and the Taiwan Technical Mission in Belize. Also in attendance were CEO Dr. Kenrick Williams from the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Climate Change, as well as Mr. Robert Pan, Chief of Taiwan Technical Mission in Belize.
The goal of the three-week training conducted in Taiwan was to enhance Belize’s interagency cooperation to address potential climate disaster by sharing Taiwan’s knowhow and experience. Participants include officials from the National Meteorological Service, Forest Department, National Hydrology Service, National Fire Service and the Department of Rural Transformation.
Taiwan is honored to partner with the Government of Belize to further build Belize's resilience toward the increasing impact of climate change and natural disasters.
