Many thanks to members of Taiwanese diaspora in Belize for supporting Taiwan’s participation in the 77th World Health Assembly (WHA)!
The Embassy had the pleasure of co-hosting a clean-up walk along the coast with Belize Taiwan Chamber of Commerce (BTCC) in support of Taiwan’s participation in the WHA on Saturday, May 18. The Embassy staff, together with around almost 50 members of the Taiwanese Community from various parts of Belize, started the clean-up walk from #1 Taiwan Street and picked up trash along the coastline up to Digi Park in Belize City.
Members of the Taiwanese Community who attended the event also signed a joint letter to WHO Director General calling for Taiwan’s inclusion in the global health network, demonstrating their support for Taiwan’s international participation.
The activity showcased the Taiwanese Community’s care for both the health of people, and health of Mother Earth. By taking action to clean up the beautiful coastline in Belize, the Taiwanese Community also wanted to show appreciation for Belize’s staunch support of Taiwan’s bid to be included in the world health arena.
As Taiwan will inaugurate President-elect Lai Ching-te and Vice-President-elect Hsiao Bi-khim on May 20, members of the Taiwanese Community also took the opportunity to celebrate the democratic achievement and freedom in Taiwan.
The Embassy would like to express our deep appreciation once again to all participants for attending such a meaningful event!
