On August 10 the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Belize co-hosted with Belize Taiwan Alumni Society (BTAS) the Orientation for 2024 Taiwan MOFA & ICDF Scholarship recipients on August 10th at the Belize Biltmore Plaza.
Ambassador Lily Li-Wen Hsu congratulated the 44 young Belizean awardees and extended best wishes for their study in Taiwan. Ambassador Hsu also invited the scholarship recipients to join the “35 years of Taiwan-Belize friendship Art Competition” and the upcoming events of Taiwan-Belize Market and Youth Ambassadors’ Performance held in Bliss Center on August 24th.
Invited special guests included H.E. Dame Froyla Tzalam, Governor-General of Belize, and Hon. Francis Fonseca, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Education, Culture, Science and Technology. Both encouraged these young exceptional students to contribute to the national development of Belize with their future specialized expertise acquired in Taiwan.
Distinguished alumni Dr. Gilroy Middleton, CEO in the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Transport, and Mr. Alobi Young, President of Belize Taiwan Alumni Society (BTAS) shared their unique experiences when studied in Taiwan. A welcome video message made by Belize Taiwan Association (BTA) was also played in the event.
