The Embassy is pleased to announce the successful completion of the Climate and Ocean Risk Vulnerability Initiative (CORVI), a collaborative project involving TaiwanICDF, the Ocean Affairs Council of the Republic of China (Taiwan), the Belize Government, and the Stimson Center. This initiative aimed to assess and address the climate and ocean risks facing Belize City.
Mr. Jiun-Shen Hwang, Counselor of the Embassy, together with Mr. Carlos Pol, CEO of the Ministry of Economic Development, attended the final stakeholder meeting on December 2, 2024.
The CORVI project utilized data-driven analysis and cross-sector collaboration to assess Belize City's vulnerabilities to climate and ocean-related risks. By focusing on key areas such as coastal resilience, economic sustainability, and community adaptation strategies, the research aims to offer actionable insights for addressing future climate challenges.
Taiwan remains committed to promoting sustainable development and climate resilience. We look forward to continued cooperation with Belize to build a safer and more prosperous future together!
