Starting from January 1, 2025, nationals from visa-exempt countries will be eligible to apply for the Digital Nomad Visa.
This visa is available to individuals from visa-exempt countries (including Belize) who enter or stay in Taiwan for remote digital work. Applicants must not be employed by Taiwanese companies and must meet at least one of the following criteria:
Proof of having previously obtained a digital nomad visa from another country.
Be at least 30 years old with an annual income of at least US$ 40,000 in one of the past two years.
Be between 20 and 30 years old with an annual income of at least US$ 20,000 in one of the past two years.
Procedures:
Visa applicants outside of the Republic of China (Taiwan) should submit their applications to a Taiwan overseas mission, which will send the application materials to the National Development Council (NDC) to review the applicants' qualifications. Afterwards, the NDC will send the results back to the mission, which will further review the visa applications. An interview may be required.
Applicants who have already entered the Republic of China (Taiwan) via visa exemption or a non-extendable visitor visa for other purposes must submit their digital nomad visa applications to the Bureau of Consular Affairs (BOCA) or one of the Central, Southwestern, Southern, or Eastern Taiwan Offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), which will send the application materials to the NDC to review the applicants’ qualifications. Applicants who fail to obtain the visa must leave the Republic of China (Taiwan) before their legal duration of stay expires.
