Taiwan- Belize Moving towards value-added agriculture

Ambassador Amino Chi met with Ms. Omaira Avila Rostant, Caribbean Agriculture Research and Development Institute (CARDI) Representative for Belize, and Dr. Roland Schafleitner, Country Director of World Vegetable Center (WorldVeg) in Mexico on June 4.
Ms. Omaira indicated that WorldVeg and CARDI has successfully created an agricultural knowledge sharing network in the Caribbean region, especially among Taiwan’s diplomatic Allies, through “Networking to Enhance International Cooperation in Vegetable Research and Development,” sponsored by Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In addition, both sides realized that strengthening agro-processing capability is essential to assist Belize in enhancing value-added agriculture, a critical step improving small farmers’ livelihood.
As a reliable partner, Taiwan will keep sharing its experience with international partners to make a contribution to the development of Belize.
