Representative Wen-yi Chen of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Canada on behalf of the Ministry of Education of ROC (Taiwan) signed the MOA of “The Research Chair in Taiwan Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences” with the University of Ottawa

Mr. Winston Wen-yi Chen, Representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Canada, and Mr. Sylvain Charbonneau, Vice –President of the University of Ottawa, signed the memorandum of agreement of “The Research Chair in Taiwan Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences” trough virtual meeting on May 31st, 2021 due to the pandemic. Many attendees at the signing ceremony included the Director of Education Division of TECO in Canada Ms. Tracy Lang, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Dr. Victoria Barham, Director of International Research office Dr. François Carrier, Research Co-Chairs Professor André Laliberté and Professor Scott Simon.
In accordance with the MOA, the Research Co-Chairs on Taiwan Studies will promote research, dissemination of research, and curriculum development on Taiwan Studies at the University of Ottawa. The activities would include field research courses and graduate student research fellowships on Taiwan Studies and purchase materials for the future three years. To expand the Taiwan Studies interdisciplinary to the entire Faculty of Social Sciences.
