Payment is only accepted by Cash (Please prepare the full amount of fees, no change will be given for mailing and in person application.), Money Order, Bank Draft or Certified cheque (payable to “Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Canada” or " Taipei Eco. & Cul. Office in Canada"). Personal cheque is not accepted.

NOTE:

When you purchase a Bank draft or Bank Cheque, please make sure the cheque contains the Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) code.

【Required Documents】

REQUIREMENTS	DESCRIPTION
1. Application form	Go to website: https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw . Fill out the application form online and print it out. Make sure the application form shows a bar code on it. Sign the application form.
2. Two color passport-size photos	Paste on the application form two color passport-size photos with a white background taken within 6 months. Please refer to this page for guidelines for passport-size photo.
3. Passport and one photocopy of the passport	The passport must be valid for at least 6 months and there are blank pages left in it. One photocopy of the passport bio-page including the holder’s picture is required.
4. Health certificate	Please use the form to complete the health examination as the required health certificate. The health certificate should be issued within 3 months. Health certificates issued by Canadian hospitals must be authenticated by our office (you may submit it along with your application for visa; please refer to documents authentication).
5. Original and one photocopy of letter of approval issued by university /college or competent authorities of education	During their stay, exchange students are required to follow the instructions of the “Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan.” For university/college exchange students, a letter of approval issued by the university/college they intend to enroll in is required. For senior high school students, a letter of approval issued by the Ministry of Education or city/county Bureau of Education is required.
6. Original and one photocopy of admission permit or record of enrollment and registration	For university/college exchange students, an admission permit issued by the university/college they intend to enroll in is required. Students already studying in the R.O.C. (Taiwan) on a Visitor Visa and wishing to apply for a Resident Visa are required to present the record of enrollment and registration.
7. Original and one photocopy of the overseas school’s record of enrollment	The record of enrollment or student ID issued by the overseas school which the student is originally from.
8. Other supporting documents	To be decided on a case-by-case basis. Students who apply for a Resident Visa after having arrived in the R.O.C.(Taiwan) are required to present also one photocopy of the Visitor Visa and the immigration entry stamp.
9. Envelope	Within Canada －Prepaid return Xpresspost purchased from Canada Post －Greater Ottawa Region, Quebec: Please provide Regional return envelope; Newfoundland and Labrador: Please provide National return envelope. The detailed information please refer to this page. We are not responsible for delayed, lost, or stolen mail. If you want to apply by mail, a pre-paid self-addressed return Xpresspost/Courier envelope must be included.
10. Fees	Please refer to the page for detailed information regarding the application fees. Legalization/visa application fees are non-refundable once accepted, regardless of approval, rejection, or withdrawal of the application.

【Notice】

Visa issuance is an act of sovereignty. According to the “Statute Governing Issuance of Taiwan, Visas in Foreign Passport” and “Enforcement Rules for the Issuance of Taiwan, Visas to Foreign-Passport Holders,” the Taiwan, reserves the right not to issue a visa and is under no obligation to disclose the reason. Application fee for no-issuance cases is non-refundable.
Documents that are in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by a Chinese- or English-translation version. The original-language documents and the accompanying Chinese- or English-translation version must be authenticated by our office.
Those who enter the Taiwan on a Resident Visa or get a Resident Visa after having arrived in the Taiwan must apply for an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) and Re-entry Permit at local service centers of National Immigration Agency. The former must apply within 15 days from the next day of arrival, and the latter must apply within 15 days from the Resident Visa issuance date. Duration of stay is noted on the Alien Resident Certificate.
Obtaining a school admission permit does not guarantee the issuance of a Resident Visa. Obtaining a Resident Visa does not entitle the visa holder to enter the Taiwan.
