Payment is only accepted by Cash (Please prepare the full amount of fees, no change will be given for mailing and in person application.), Money Order, Bank Draft or Certified cheque (payable to “Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Canada” or " Taipei Eco. & Cul. Office in Canada"). Personal cheque is not accepted.

NOTE:

When you purchase a Bank draft or Bank Cheque, please make sure the cheque contains the Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) code.

REQUIREMENTS	DESCRIPTION
1. Application form	Please access the website: https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw/ to fill out application form online and print it out and sign it. Make sure the application form shows a bar code on it.
2. Two color passport-size photos	Please refer to this page for guidelines for poassport-size photo.
3. Passport and one photocopy of the passport	The passport must be valid for at least 6 months and there are blank pages left in it. One photocopy of the passport bio-page including the holder’s picture is required.
4. Certificate of admission	A certificate of admission issued by the Chinese language center affiliated to one of the universities or institutions accredited by the Ministry of Education. For information on the schools, please visit http://depart.moe.edu.tw/ED2500/News.aspx?n=B9C5E550F0D6C668&sms=141E0BD754235129 for the updated list. Those who have obtained a certificate of admission from Chientan Overseas Youth Language Center must also submit a recommendation provided by Overseas Community Affairs Council.
5. Study plan	Describe the motive and plan for studying Chinese
6. Proof of financial support	This can include bank account balanced statement.
7. Travel Itinerary	Ticket、electronic ticket or proof of a travel agency.
8. Other supporting documents	To be decided on a case-by-case basis.
9. Return Envelope	Within Canada －Prepaid return Xpresspost purchased from Canada Post －Greater Ottawa Region, Quebec: Please provide Regional return envelope；Newfoundland and Labrador: Please provide National return envelope. The detailed information please refer to this page. This office is not responsible for delayed, lost, or stolen mail. If you want to apply by mail, a pre-paid self-addressed return Xpresspost / Courier envelope must be included.
10. Fees	Please refer to the page for detailed information regarding the application fees. Legalization/visa application fees are non-refundable once accepted, regardless of approval, rejection, or withdrawal of the application.

Interview may be required when necessary.
Visas are issued as stipulated by Article 12 of the Statute Governing Issuance of ROC (Taiwan) Visas for Foreign Passports. As a sovereign nation, Taiwan has the right to refuse applications for visas without providing any explanation for such decisions; visa application fee is not refundable.
