The valid original passports and photocopies of both partners
The original passport will be returned to the applicant after the process.
If original passport cannot be provided, a verified true copy of passport must be obtained from a passport office or Service Canada (for Canadian passports), or the government authorities of the issuing country (e.g., embassy, commissioner for passports issued by countries other than Canada and Taiwan).
If you are outside Canada, a copy of your passport must be authenticated by the Embassy or Consulate of the issuing country AND subsequently by the TECO Office in that consular district. -Canadian passport holders in Taiwan: A true copy of your passport can be obtained through CTOTAND subsequently authenticated by the BOCA.

Chinese Name Declaration Form
If one of the spouses is a foreign national, please submit the "Chinese Name Declaration" for the foreign spouse.
According to Article 1, Paragraph 3 of the Name Act: "If an ROC national marries a foreign national or stateless person, the spouse and all children, if any, must take a Chinese-language name that conforms to ROC practices."
According to Article 2, Paragraph 2 of its Enforcement Rules: "A foreign national or stateless person applying for naturalization to the Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as ROC) or who is to marry an ROC national, shall confirm his or her Chinese name in written form on the Marriage Registration; his or her children’s Chinese names are processed according to related laws."
If a foreign national spouse of a Taiwanese citizen cannot return to Taiwan for registration, they must complete the "Chinese Name Declaration" Authentication at this office. For information about Documents Authentication, please refer to [Documents Authentication].
For the applicants who are unable to visit in-person, they must first get your signature verified by a Notary Public before submitting it to this office for authentication.

Return Envelope
Within Canada:
-Prepaid return Xpresspost purchased from Canada Post.
Outside Canada:
-Please purchase the Air Waybill from carrier companies (e.g., FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc.) at first and submit application documents with printed barcodes. Please contact carrier companies for information.
We are not responsible for delayed, lost, or stolen mail. If you want to apply by mail, a pre-paid self-addressed return Xpresspost/Courier envelope must be included.
Legalization/visa application fees are non-refundable once accepted, regardless of approval, rejection, or withdrawal of the application.
If you require authentication of your document's Chinese translation, please submit a translation that accurately reflects the meaning and format of the original text. The authentication fee will be calculated separately. (Alternatively, the authentication of the Chinese translation may be notarized by the notary office of a domestic court or a civil notary in Taiwan).
