Former President Tsai Ing-wen delivers a speech at the Halifax International Security Forum

On November 23, former President Tsai Ing-wen delivered a significant speech at the Halifax International Security Forum as the recipient of the McCain Public Service Leadership Award, earning a standing ovation from political and military leaders in attendance.
In her speech, Tsai emphasized that the international community is currently facing numerous uncertainties. She called on democratic nations to work together to confront the challenges posed by authoritarian regimes and to seek solutions to resolve conflicts collectively.
She extended special thanks to international partners, including the G7, the European Union (EU), and Canada, for their continued attention to peace in the Taiwan Strait. Tsai highlighted that Taiwan’s security is not only critical to regional stability but also a cornerstone for international trade and prosperity.
Taiwan, she stated, will remain resilient in the face of challenges, continue to strengthen its self-defense capabilities, and collaborate with like-minded partners to build a sustainable and lasting peace mechanism. She expressed her eagerness to share Taiwan’s vision and values with the international community and announced that the Halifax Forum will be held in Taiwan for the first time in February 2025!
