Remembrance is Duty: The 79th 228 Commemoration in Toronto
History must be remembered; democracy must be protected by every generation.
On February 28 at 2:28 PM, Director General Liang joined the Association of Taiwanese Organizations in Toronto (A.T.O.T.) and Taiwanese community leaders at the Formosan Grace Christian Church in Scarborough.
Alongside Toronto City Councillors Lily Cheng and Rachel Chernos Lin, they gathered in solemnity to honor the 79th 228 Peace Memorial.
Through candle lighting, silent prayer, music, multilingual poetry, and a keynote speech, they shared the hope that wounds will be healed.
Only by facing history with honesty can we unite and ensure Taiwan’s democracy never retreats.
