To celebrate the centenary of the founding of the Republic of China , the Délégation culturelle et économique de Taipei held a concert at Petrus Kirche in Bern on Jan. 8 2012. More than 200 guests from Swiss Federal Parliament, embassy representatives and overseas Chinese were invited to attend the concert.
Amb. Hsieh, head of the Delegation, in his opening remarks, welcomed his guests and explained to them the democratic and economic achievements made by the Republic of China on Taiwan over the past century.
Chia Ai Choir and a soprano (Ms. Li-Chin Huang) and a flute player (Mr. Chih-Wei Hu) were invited to perform at the concert. They mainly played famous Taiwanese and Chinese songs which, to many attendants, were seldom heard of before. The audience applauded them wildly for every single song or piece of music they had sung or played.
Amb. Hsieh also took advantage of the occasion to present to Chia Ai Choir an award recognizing their efforts and contributions to promote culture exchange between Switzerland and Taiwan.
