Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim met with a delegation of Danish parliamentarians on November 27th, thanking the Taiwan Friendship Group for supporting Taiwan's meaningful participation in international organizations and emphasizing the importance of peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. She expressed hope that the delegation's visit would deepen their understanding of Taiwanese society and further promote bilateral partnership.
In her remarks, the Vice President expressed her pleasure in welcoming the Danish parliamentarian delegation to Taiwan and thanked the Taiwan Friendship Group for its consistent support in deepening bilateral partnership in various aspects, including supporting Taiwan's meaningful participation in international organizations. She also emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.
The Vice President stated that the international situation has always been very difficult for Taiwan, and it has not received fair treatment in international participation. However, Taiwan has always received support from friends around the world and knows that it is not alone.
The Vice President pointed out that cooperation between Taiwan and Denmark also has its unique aspects. For example, the Danish renewable energy company has become one of the largest investors in Taiwan, contributing to Taiwan's energy resilience and energy portfolio diversification. Although neither country is considered a major power, both have always found opportunities to transcend their own size and exert influence in emerging fields and cutting-edge technologies, making them a very important partnership.
The Vice President noted that Denmark ranks highly in the World Happiness Index, a fact admired by many Taiwanese. Some books in Taiwan describe how Danes balance work and life, maintaining both high efficiency and enjoyment of life. The Vice President believes Taiwanese people also need to learn how to achieve a better work/life balance. She expressed confidence that there are many areas for mutual learning between the two countries and thanked Parliamentarian Kasper Roug for leading the delegation to Taiwan, hoping to gain a deeper understanding of Taiwanese society and further promote bilateral partnership.
The delegation also included Members of Parliament Thomas Jensen, Alex Ahrendtsen, and Morten Klessen, accompanied by Deputy Foreign Minister François Wu.
